No
fewer than 45 persons including some unidentified security operatives have been
killed by suspected armed Fulani herdsmen in Agatu Local Government Area of
Benue state.
LEADERSHIP
gathered that the gruesome killing occurred on Sunday night when armed men
numbering about seven hundred invaded the community. They reportedly killed 38
persons on Sunday while the others were murdered in another fresh heinous
attack in the early hours of Monday at about 5am.
Thousands
of people including fishermen and government workers were displaced, even as
majority of the victims of the attack had fled to Ogbokpo, the headquarters of
Agatu LGA and to some neighboring Igala villages in Kogi state.
The
entire clans of Agatu LGA, churches, market places, schools and government
offices were completely closed down, just as workers could not go to work for

John Ngbede and member representing the Agatu state constituency, Mr. Audu Sule
who paid a visit to the area could not gain entry into the affected
